According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in five American’s will have a mental illness at any given point in time. Mental illness and addiction do not discriminate. People from a wide variety of backgrounds struggle silently with these challenges.
Doug’s Haven is a grassroots 501(c)3 non-profit in Gettysburg, PA. At Doug’s Haven, we believe that a meaningful way to defeat stigma against addiction and mental health concerns is by a shared story. Through narrating our stories, we provide hope and comfort to other people that we are not alone. Many successful people are living in recovery every day. The goal of Doug’s Haven is to send the message that:
Your story and your recovery matter.
Hope and Help are real.
Once an individual decides to get therapy for the first time, it can be frightening and intimidating. Doug’s Haven is here to help assist with taking those initial steps in our recovery journey.
Doug’s Haven participates in and organizes multiple programs throughout the year with the mission of sharing stories of recovery and hope. Additionally, Doug’s Haven is vigilantly working to develop a scholarship program for individuals in need of treatment but do not have the financial means to receive it.
