I am a licensed professional counselor with over 7 years of experience in both mental health and drug & alcohol counseling. I am a graduate of California University of PA with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I primarily work with older adolescents and adults. Areas of focus include but are not limited to; Anxiety, depression, grief and loss, substance use disorders, self-esteem, stress management, and postpartum depression/anxiety.
In my view, counseling is a process that is being done with you, not to you. My main goal as a counselor is to help my clients feel comfortable and safe to be open and share their stories. I work to provide a protected, comfortable, and non-judgmental space to share what is most concerning and then work together to help you figure out what is best for you, not to tell you what to do. My second goal is to help you learn new skills and ways of looking at situations so that you will be more capable of overcoming challenges on your own. I believe that there is an intricate and crucial connection between feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that affect being successful in life. Many of the strategies I use are mostly cognitive-behavioral in nature, meaning they are based on the idea that the way people see themselves and the world around them influences, to some extent, how they think, feel, and behave. Overall, we will work together to find what works best for you throughout our journey together, which may include validation, challenge, comfort, support, or guidance.
